Genesis 11:27-12:20
Abram is called out of his Idolatrous family to a land God would show Him. He's given great promises of what God would do in and through him. As imperfect as he was, by faith he obeyed God, and he went out not knowing where he was going. He dwelt in tents in the land of promise because he was looking for the city which has foundations who's builder and maker is God.
We see his faith tried by the famine in the land. Even in his faltering and turning to Egypt, we see God's absolute faithfulness to His promise. Paul told us in Romans:
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
- Rom 8:28
Abraham loved God, and He was called according to His purpose!
